We are proud to offer so many varied massage therapies at the Wellness Centre, here is a brief description of the massages that are available:

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy combines massage techniques with high quality, pure essential oils that are extracted from plants, and possess distinctive chemical compounds and properties, which may be used to improve physical, emotional and spiritual health imbuing the user with a sense of relaxation and calmness. Some compounds have been shown to have a beneficial impact on the bodies tissues, facilitating healing, reducing pain and inflammation, and improving function.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is the examination and hands on treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, often caused by injury, posture, work or chronic long term health problems.

Remedial massage aims to treat muscles that are damaged, tense or have lost strength, either by overuse, illness or work related issues.  It can also be helpful for joint problems that require mobilisation and rehabilitation.

Tsuboki Face Massage

Tsuboki Japanese Face Massage is a wonderfully relaxing yet energising treatment suitable for men or women who want to feel good on the inside and the outside.

Based in part on the principles of acupressure it is a modern take on meridian theory which goes back thousands of years in Japan and China.

Tui Na Deep Tissue Massage

Tui Na, (pronounced “twee na” and which literally means push and grab) is a deep tissue Chinese massage, and is a fundamental part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

There are an array of techniques used, such as kneading, chopping, hacking, perpendicular pressure, and rolling fist, which the therapist will use to remove tension/spasm in the muscles and blockages of Chi in the channels. This makes Tui Na a complete massage, it works the muscles helping them to relax, removing stagnation and allowing the blood to flow more freely throughout the area.  Tui Na also presses on certain acupressure points in the body’s meridian system to stimulate the body’s own healing process.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a widely recognized therapeutic technique that focuses on manipulating soft tissues and muscles to promote relaxation and overall well-being. Often referred to as “classic massage,” it employs a variety of techniques including long gliding strokes (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), tapping (tapotement), friction, and vibration.

These methods work together to enhance circulation, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate the nervous system, creating a soothing and balancing effect.
