Neck, low back and all joint pains. Headache relief. Sports injuries. Pains during pregnancy. Cranial Osteopathy for babies and children
Osteopathy is a primary care profession, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders, and the effects of these conditions on patients’ general health.
Osteopaths’ patient-centred approach to health and well-being means they consider symptoms in the context of the patient’s full medical history, as well as their lifestyle and personal circumstances. This holistic approach ensures that all treatment is tailored to the individual patient.
Osteopaths are trained in therapeutic approaches that are suitable for a broad range of individuals, including pregnant women, children and babies. Osteopathic care is delivered through a range of interventions which may include onward referral, health management advice, manual therapy, exercise therapy and others. Osteopaths adapt their therapeutic approach depending on the individual needs of the patient and their presenting complaint. Manual therapy techniques employed may include articulation and manipulation of joints and soft tissues.
Osteopaths have been regulated by statute since 1993 by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Cranial Osteopathy is a very subtle form of treatment. A student of Andrew Taylor Still, William Garner Sutherland, realized after much research that there was a very refined and rhythmical movement of not only the skull bones but the membranes and fluids within and of the brain itself. From this research the term was coined. Later it was established that this rhythm could be felt throughout the body.
With trauma and injury this delicate system can be disrupted but by gentle palpation and treatment, harmony can be restored. Simon has used Cranial Osteopathy techniques for many years.
Simon started training in paediatrics in 2003 when he attended the world renowned Osteopathic Centre for Children in London for a year. Here he developed his skills treating all ages from the newborn to the late teenager. Since then he has regularly attended paediatric courses and conferences. Osteopaths take into consideration all aspects of health and development in their assessment of a baby or child. A full case history will be taken, which will include not only their life so far but also the birth and pregnancy. This is followed by an examination and treatment.
Simon uses a variety of techniques, including cranial osteopathy and gentle massage and articulation, all aimed at releasing physical tension to return the body to a state of balance wherever possible.
