bigstock_Foot_massage_7005696Reflexology has undergone many transformations and our modern day treatment is based on zone theory as set out by Dr William Fitzgerald and further developed in the 1930’s by Eunice D. Ingham who showed the reflexes on the feet to mirror the organs of the body.

By using the reflex points located on the feet, a practitioner can help to ease the symptoms of many ailments in the body by inducing relaxation, improving circulation and producing feelings of wellbeing. Reflexology is usually performed on the feet, but can also be used with the hands, and even the ears. It can also be incorporated into other treatments to heighten the effects, so ear reflexology can become part of a scalp massage.

Each Reflexology treatment is centred around the individual with their needs leading the treatment and as such, all treatments begin with a consultation, which enables your therapist to tailor-make the session specific to you.

Benefits of Reflexology

  • Relief from stress, anxiety and tension
  • Feelings of deep relaxation
  • Improved mood
  • Improved sleep
  • A general sense of health and well-being

Reflexology is often used alongside conventional care in hospices, hospitals and other healthcare settings.

Reflexology is suitable for most people, from the very young to the very old, and everyone in between.  There may be some situations where reflexology may not be suitable for you, but if you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact Katy.  You will be asked to fill in a quick consent and health questionnaire before the treatment, all information is confidential and kept securely.
