Remedial massage is the examination and hands on treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, often caused by injury, posture, work or chronic long term health problems.
Remedial massage aims to treat muscles that are damaged, tense or have lost strength, either by overuse, illness or work related issues. It can also be helpful for joint problems that require mobilisation and rehabilitation.
An assessment-based treatment plan is used to support the recovery of the patient, and a wide range of techniques can be used such as focused massage on the area affected, myofascial release, dry cupping, kinesio taping and more.
Remedial massage can also be used for general health and well-being, to aid recovery from ill health or as a pre or post event sports massage.
