Dr Rachel Tyler is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Rachel has over 10 years experience working across a range of NHS settings, supporting children, adolescents and adults with emotional difficulties.
Rachel is skilled in working with a range of psychological difficulties including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, phobias and trauma. She is also experienced in working with individuals with neurodiversity and gender identity concerns.
Rachel has particular expertise in child and adolescent mental health, having worked in CAMHS and paediatrics for a number of years. Within this field, she is especially skilled in providing support to parents, as well as to children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, anger and low self-esteem.
Working with people with long term health conditions is a particular area of interest and expertise for Rachel (both adult and paediatric). She has worked with a number of health conditions including, but not limited to, chronic pain, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic fatigue and functional neurological disorder (FND). Rachel strives to provide a service that recognises the emotional and psychological impact that managing a long-term health condition can have. She understands the sense of loss and uncertainty that can come with a change in one’s physical health and is able to support people through a journey of adjustment and acceptance when a health concern changes someone’s daily life.
In order to achieve a truly personal approach, Rachel uses an integrative approach in her work. This means she draws upon a range of therapeutic models dependent on what is helpful and meaningful for each individual. Models that Rachel regularly draws upon include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
Rachel offers a warm and compassionate approach, taking time to listen and understand your situation to ensure that therapy is personal and meaningful to you.
