How Reflexology Can Support Giving Up Smoking

March 9th is National No Smoking Day.  Our Reflexologist, Katy Thompson, an ex-smoker herself, knows full well how hard it is to kick the habit and how easy it is to start again.  But with the determination to stop, and the correct help and support, the process can be made easier.

Katy outlines how Reflexology can help:

“Once you have decided to stop smoking you may feel overwhelmed with negative emotions, particularly surrounding cravings.  Reflexology can work effectively alongside any smoking cessation route you choose, as it does not interfere with most medications, and can help relax your body and mind, supporting you through your cravings.

Reflexology also helps to speed along the healing process by:

  • Relaxation – to help the body concentrate on healing not craving
  • Improved circulation – helping remove toxins, clear lungs and airways quicker, getting the heart back to health quicker, which in turn helps breathing, skin begins to brighten, hair gets more lustre and a general sense of health and wellness comes quicker and easier

Treatment Plan

My service isn’t just about giving you 50 minutes of relaxation and sending you on your way, it is about you getting to know you, your triggers for smoking and incorporating strategies to cope and a course of Reflexology treatment to support you to the end.  I will teach you a few Reflexology exercises you can do at home.  Most will be trigger points on your hands and will last the time it usually takes you to smoke a cigarette, giving you something to do with your hands to help you beat the cravings and make you feel good at the same time.

The best of luck in your new healthier lifestyle”
